Just in Time Manufacturing System

JUST IN TIME MANUFACTURING SYSTEM

  • From the phrase itself, just in time is a production system where each activity is done as needed to continue with the next step in the manufacturing process.
  • Example: You only purchase raw materials when the factory is ready to start manufacturing an order. Very small inventory is kept, which serves for contingency in case some raw materials purchased are of low quality and needs replacement.
  • The gist is this: raw materials are purchased and received just in time to start production, and finished goods are made just in time to be sold.
  • The primary objective of JIT is to minimize, if not eliminate, all manufacturing inventories.
  • The reason being: inventories tie up funds (since you gave up cash for the inventories and it also costs money to store the inventories). And so, should the company find itself in a situation where it needs money, it would have less available cash. Should the company apply JIT and acquire inventory when needed, then its assets are in the form of cash which can be utilized in emergency situations, or something along those lines.

FEATURES OF JIT

To effectively apply JIT as a manufacturing system, the following features are essential:

  • Having dependable suppliers who can meet the company’s inventory requirements at a short notice (when needed by the company)
  • Materials movement should also be minimized by grouping equipment and machinery. Technically, an efficient layout of the factory is needed. In this way, processes are performed in sequence.
  • Reduce time required for setting up equipment and materials needed for production.

Kaya kailangang efficient yung lay-out ng factory.

Wow, nag-tagalog tayo ngayon. Sige na, mag-tatagalog na kami. Pero…

The point of using English as the medium of instruction is that this is the medium for international trade.

XD
